TANJUNG MALIM: The remains of a baby with the umbilical cord still attached was found by a worker at a sewage treatment plant in Kota Malim Prima here on Friday (April 15) morning.
Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said they were alerted to the discovery at about 11am.
“The baby is believed to have been dumped into a toilet and entered the plant through a sewage channel linked to several residential areas and the Kota Malim Prima industrial area.
“The baby measured about 9cm, weighed 130g and was not fully formed,” he said, adding that the baby is believed to have died over 24 hours ago.
Mior Faridalathrash was speaking to reporters at a breaking of fast ceremony at the Tanjung Malim police station Friday.
He said the remains had been sent to the Slim River Hospital for a post-mortem and the case was being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body. – Bernama
