BAU: The wife of Corporal Sharif Mohd Siddiq Al-Attas Wan Sabli, who was killed in a shooting incident at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) camp in Kota Samarahan, described her late husband as a “very loving and good person”.
Speaking to reporters after his burial at the Kampung Melayu Siniawan Seberang Muslim cemetery yesterday, Shima Mustapha, who appeared calm, said she accepted the incident as fate.
“At first, I did not believe it was my husband until my mother-in-law told me that he had been killed.
“To me, he is a hero and remained a fighter until he breathed his last while receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital Heart Centre.
“Bidding him a final goodbye will be our last memory together,” said the 29-year-old widow.
The funeral rites were held in the presence of close family members and RMAF personnel at 10am.
Cpl Sharif was the second of seven siblings and had served in the RMAF for about 12 years.
He leaves behind his wife and three children – Sharifah Syafa Shakira Al Attas, five, Sharifah Syafa Syahirah Al Attas, three, and Sharif Erdogan Al-Attas, two months.
Earlier before the burial, Commander Air Region 2 Mej Jen Datuk Shamsudin Kassim presented the RMAF flag and the Jalur Gemilang to Shima.
On Friday, a member of the RMAF shot and killed three of his colleagues before turning the gun on himself at the Kota Samarahan air force base. — Bernama
