A shooting was reported Sunday night in Northeast Washington just outside the campus of Gallaudet University, according to D.C. police.

       The shooting was reported about 8:20 p.m. in the 800 block of Florida Avenue NE, which is the address of the university. The victim was not identified by police and the victim’s condition was not immediately known.

       Police said they were looking for a gray vehicle.

       A spokesman for the university said it did not appear that the shooting involved people connected to Gallaudet.

       “We do not believe that anyone from the university was involved in any way,” Robert B. Weinstock said in an email.

       He said the university’s gate at Eighth Street and Florida Avenue was closed after the shooting was reported.
