A commuter train has crashed into a fallen tree on the tracks of West Wickham railway station.

       Passengers using the line have faced cancellations, diversions and delays following the incident at the station in Bromley, south-east London.

       Fire crews were called to the site to remove the tree, while engineers have also been sent, according to Southeastern Railway.

       It led to trains on the Hayes line being forced to either terminate at Elmers End or be diverted to run from Orpington, the rail service said.

       Footage suggests that the collision led to a partial derailment of the train and a second train came to a stop, leaving part of the track blocked.

       Passengers shared pictures online of the tree from outside their carriage windows.

       One wrote: “Can we please just get off and walk? How do you know the power will return to the line after the tree is removed?”
