The monarch, 95, is currently at her private Scottish retreat for her annual summer break. On Saturday a member of staff was sent home following a PCR test.

But Her Majesty, who is doubled jabbed, is reportedly "determined to carry on as normal" at Balmoral Castle.

A source told the Sun: “All the staff at Balmoral are tested for Covid daily and on Saturday this person showed up as positive.

“They were sent home and the staff canteen and bar were shut.

"They’re on a separate block on the estate.

“But the Queen has decided food will continue being served by servants and the family will still go out shooting stag and having picnics on the estate.

“Although Her Majesty is 95 and has been double jabbed, the feeling is she still has to be careful yet she’s determined to carry on as normal.

"She does not want to overreact.”

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: "We have procedures in place should a member of any team get Covid."

It is the Queen's first stay at Balmoral without her beloved husband Prince Philip, who died in April.

Every year, the monarch spends the summer at Balmoral where she is joined by other members of the Royal Family.

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson arrived last week.

Princess Eugenie, Jack Brooksbank and their son August have also joined the Queen.

Prince William, Kate and their three children are expected to arrive later this month.

The Queen was officially welcomed to Balmoral last week by a guard of honour featuring a Shetland pony mascot.

The head of state inspected soldiers from Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The Pipes and Drums of the regiment's 3rd Battalion performed during the ceremony and the Royal Regiment of Scotland's mascot, Shetland Pony Lance Corporal Cruachan IV, also took part.

Scotland has been a welcome place of sanctuary for the Royal Family since Queen Victoria's day as they country pursuits in the Highlands.

Despite being on holiday, work still continues for the Queen as every day she receives from Government ministers, and from her representatives in the Commonwealth and foreign countries, information in the form of policy papers, Cabinet documents and other State papers for her attention.
