An infant about a month old was critically injured in a shooting that also wounded six other people Thursday evening in Englewood, authorities said.

The shooting took place around 8:15 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Halsted, police said. Three males got out of a black Jeep Cherokee and began shooting in several directions, striking seven people, then got back in the Jeep and fled east on 66th Street, they said..

The month-old girl was shot in the head. Police took her to St. Bernard Hospital, and paramedics transferred her to Comer Children’s Hospital where she was in critical condition, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford and police said.

The other people wounded included a 15-year-old boy, who was shot in the left arm and was at St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, according to police. Another man, 46, was also at St. Bernard, where he was in good condition with a gunshot wound to his right leg, police said.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the right leg and was in good condition, and a 30-year-old man was in good condition with a gunshot wound to his right arm. Both were at Stroger Hospital, police said.

Another man, 36, was in good condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his buttocks. A 32-year-old man was grazed in the hip, and declined to go to the hospital, police said.

No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.

Hours earlier, a 9-year-old girl was shot in the head around 2:45 p.m. while she was seated in the back seat of a vehicle in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. A 52-year-old man, who was a violence prevention worker, was also wounded in the shooting.
