A woman died and two other people were injured in a crash early Sunday on the southbound side of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Maryland.

       U.S. Park Police said the two-vehicle crash happened around 1:15 a.m. Sunday near the split with Route 50 in the Cheverly area. A 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and two other people were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

       The name of the victim was not immediately released, pending the notification of her family. Few other details were available Sunday, and the case remains under investigation.

       The highway closed for several hours between Route 202 and Route 50 following the crash and reopened about 8:30 a.m.
