SHAH ALAM: Flash floods have hit Taman Sri Muda again after steady rainfall that began at 3pm Monday (Jan 24), raising concerns among residents.

Taman Sri Muda resident Balram Tikaram Kami, who was in his 30s, said many residents had panicked and driven their cars out of the area.

"A family member called me saying it was raining heavily.

"I passed by the Klang River in Taman Sri Muda when driving home but saw that the water levels were normal," Balram said.

He said most parts of Taman Sri Muda, which was flood prone, were not affected by the flash flood caused by Monday's rainfall.

Resident Subashini Karunakaran, 28, said the flooding was limited to the usual places where water rose whenever there was heavy rainfall.

"These locations are flood prone due to the problematic drainage system," the financial services executive said.

However, the authorities said the situation was under control and they were monitoring it.

Taman Sri Muda was heavily flooded during a heavy downpour on Dec 17 and there were even several deaths due to the tragedy.

Floodwaters had risen to almost the rooftop of single storey homes and with a lot of damage incurred to belongings and vehicles.
