SINGER and actress Janna Nick’s (pic) latest hit Gatal has been remixed into a Raya song – Gatal Raya – in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, Berita Harian reported.

Janna, whose real name is Nurul Jannah Muner, said the new single was produced after the original hit by composer and singer Aepul Roza received an overwhelming response.

“It seems that Gatal fever has not subsided with a total of 6.6 million views on YouTube. Warner Music Malaysia suggested the single be produced into a Raya version.

“The original composer, Aepul, was given the responsibility to rewrite the lyrics and arrange the music for Hari Raya,” said the 26-year-old.

Janna added that the new song was recorded in two hours at Studio Dramabois while the mixing and editing process took a week.

       > Sinar Harian reported that a mosque in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, offered free motorcycle maintenance to spread the message of vehicle safety for those returning to their hometowns for Hari Raya.During the programme by Masjid Arraudah Taman Rasa Sayang, about 100 people took the opportunity to have their motorcycles serviced by six mechanics.

Programme coordinator Zulkifli Muhamed said this was not the first time such a programme had been held, but it was a little different this time because it was organised in conjunction with Aidilfitri.

“We know many are excited to go home for the festival in their hometowns as they have not been able to do so for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With this small effort, we hope to give happiness to those who choose to return home by motorcycle,” he said.

       > An elderly couple from Kampung Surau Panjang in Terengganu had to reject orders for their ketupat palas because they could not meet the demand that had almost doubled for Hari Raya.

Abdullah Mad Amin, 78, told Utusan Malaysia he had been receiving orders since the beginning of Ramadan and up to now, had sold over 7,000 ketupat with his wife, Ramlah Endut, 74.

“Actually, we received more orders but these had to be rejected because we are not as strong as before.

“Even though the price of palas leaves has gone up, we still sell these ketupat at the same price of RM45 for 100.

“We are not looking for big profits, but it’s about the sentimental value of a business that has allowed us to raise 12 children,” he added.

Abdullah said his frozen ketupat palas was also in demand in Malaysia and Singapore.
