KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy over a social media post regarding the unilateral conversion of Loh Siew Hong's three children.
Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan confirmed they have opened an investigation over a Facebook post.
"Bukit Aman's CID Special Investigation Unit is probing the case under Sections 505(c) and 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for making statements conducing to public mischief, for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace, and improper use of network services, respectively," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 23).
He said six police reports have been lodged on the matter as of Wednesday.
"Investigations are ongoing and we advise the public to refrain from speculating on the case as it could jeopardise the probe.
"We also advise the public to be more cautious when touching on sensitive issues such as religion and race," he said, urging people to be courteous social media users and not use the platforms to an extent which could lead to public anxiousness and threaten national harmony.
Comm Abd Jalil said stern action without compromise would be taken against any individual who intentionally threatened public order and safety.
