KUALA LUMPUR: The families of the victims of the landslide in Taman Bukit Permai, Ampang here have confirmed the identities of the deceased.
They are Chong Siew Kim (aged 85), E.Ramasamy (58), A.Mahendran (36) and Mohd. Saiful Ridzuan Ishak (37).
A survivor who was pulled from the debris, 85-year-old Kim Cheng Kim, is still being treated at the Ampang Hospital.
“The victim’s identities have been confirmed by their families. We have classified their deaths as sudden death and post-mortem examinations will be conducted,” said Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak at the scene here Friday (March 11).
Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said that the department would be on standby until Friday afternoon.
“We have activated our Special Tactical Operation and Rescue (Storm) teams Thursday (March 11), including those from Ipoh.
“The search and rescue operation concluded at around 1.45am on Friday. Our canine squads helped locate the last two bodies,” he said.
Victims were buried in up to 1.5m of earth and the house nearest to the landslide was completely destroyed.
