Prince William and Kate ditching Queen and Prince Philip attitude to boost popularity

Royal expert Angela Levin praised Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, for how accessible they were to the public. While speaking on GB News, she reflected on the family outing for the Cambridges at the England vs Germany football match. Ms Levin insisted the Queen and Prince Philip would rarely show emotion in public and would hide their true feelings.

The royal expert argued Prince William and Kate would be changing this attitude as they take over as leading royals.

Ms Levin said: "Prince William has shown no restraint in being absolutely thrilled that we won the football against Germany.

"He was just like any other fan, Prince George, who had almost the same suit and tie as his father, was almost a bit overwhelmed to be there.

"They were encouraging him to relax, to shout and enjoy himself.

"This was a real family event, Prince William is so much more accessible now, he is relaxed and happy as a family man."

GB News host Tom Harwood noted that these emotive reactions from Prince William differed widely from the Queen and Prince Philip.

Ms Levin highlighted that William and Kate would be ushering in a new royal attitude when it comes to emotion going forward.

She said: "I think this is part of Princess Diana's legacy.

"She showed what she felt, if she wanted to hug her boys she would, she was very demonstrative.

"I think that is one of the things that has lingered for Prince William.

"Also, life moves on and I think Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge has done that as well, she is very natural and comes from a good family.

"The discussion on whether the royals should keep everything in, the Queen and Prince Philip did that.
