No dengue case recorded in Lakki Marwat this year

       LAKKI MARWAT: No dengue case has been recorded during the first three months of current year in Lakki Marwat district, according to a health official.

       Briefing a meeting of dengue control and prevention committee at district headquarters complex here the other day, entomologist Mohammad Jameel Khan said that a total of 39 suspected patients with fever, headache and body pain were screened in various hospitals from January to March.

       He said that as per laboratory reports, dengue virus was not found in any suspected patient. The additional deputy commissioner, Habibullah Wazir, chaired the meeting.

       The assistant commissioner, Faqeer Hussain, the district health officer, Dr Abdugul, focal person Aziz Khan, district Khateeb Maulana Abdul Wahab and heads of line departments attended the meeting.

       The medical entomologist told the meeting that health experts inspected 6,451 indoor and 5,417 outdoor sites during the last three months to eliminate mosquito breeding places and sensitise people, especially women, about precautions.

       “Along with setting up dengue isolation wards at DHQ hospital, Category-C hospitals in Lakki and Naurang and Category-D hospitals in Titterkhel and Tajori, health department has also carried out larvicide activities and fumigation in various parts of the district,” he claimed.

       The additional deputy commissioner stressed the need for an effective awareness campaign to eradicate dengue and asked health authorities to educate people about anti-dengue precautionary measures.

       He also asked health officials to implement dengue control and prevention plan in letter and spirit.

       Later, the participants of the meeting held an awareness walk on the premises of district headquarters complex.
