Star Wars made its mark on many people, none more so than Rishi Sunak. The Prime Minister has regularly spoken about his love of the epic sci-fi film franchise.

       This year, he told school pupils that his ambition when growing up was to be a Jedi Knight and to fly an X-wing. He went further in a grilling on BBC Radio, using his appearance to pitch for a cameo in a future Star Wars film.

       "Who wouldn't love to go on the Millennium Falcon and have that be your ship?" he said.

       "I would love to be able to do that. But then again also piloting an X-wing has been probably one of my life's bucket list things I would want to do, so actually if you could have a chat with the people who film the movies there.

       'If they could get me a cameo in an X-wing and I would get to say ''Red Seven standing by before we take down the Death Star'' that would make me a very happy man, so that was always my childhood dream."

       As Mr Sunak ends the year with his inflation target fulfilled, he may feel the force is starting to prove strong with the economy. Of course, he will have much to do to stop Sir Keir Starmer and his so-called "Starmtroopers" from winning power.
