A THREE-YEAR-OLD’s passion for environmental cleanliness has granted him recognition as the hygiene and recycling “little superhero” by a solid waste management company, reported Utusan Malaysia.

Zyan Asyraff Mohamad Aliff was recognised by SWM Environment Sdn Bhd for his enthusiasm towards cleanliness and interest in properly disposing of trash.

His mother Norfaizah Mohd Esa said her son likes to see the garbage truck that comes over to pick up the trash at their house in Kota Tinggi, Johor.

“He would cry if I don’t show him the garbage truck. He gets excited every time he sees the truck lifting the trash bins,” she said.

Norfaizah added that her son’s interest sometimes baffled her but she viewed it positively.

“Usually when we go for a walk or on holiday, he would not play, but would run around to look for rubbish to throw into the trash can.“We look at his habit in a positive way. Who knows one day he can be a contractor for a solid waste system,” she said, adding that as parents they should not hinder their children’s passion.

SWM Environment South Johor Two service area manager Mohd Asriff Samion said the company was impressed with the child’s ability to understand the concept of recycling at a very young age.

“Therefore, in line with the theme of this year’s National Recycling Day celebration, which is Earth Hero, SWM Environment recognises Zayn Asyraff’s as a little hygiene and recycling superhero.

“Zayn is a role model to other children and even the general public on hygiene and the proper use of rubbish bins,” he said.

Mohd Asriff also said that as a sign of appreciation to the three-year-old, the staff would stop by at his house and demonstrate the process of handling wheeled bins with compactor trucks.

       > “Viral doctor” Dr Malar Santhi Santherasegapan stole the limelight when she showed up at an awards show as a presenter on Saturday night, reported Kosmo!Dr Malar, who gained recognition on social media for her educational videos on fighting against fake news about Covid-19, was invited as one of the presenters to the 34th Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian.

She wore a long black and white dress and looked confident while on stage which resulted in some Internet users suggesting that she join the international pageant to represent Malaysia.

“Petition to send Dr Malar to Miss Universe. She is smart, beautiful and influential,” said a Twitter user.

Dr Malar, who worked at the emergency department of a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur, presented the New Popular Artist awards.
