KUANTAN: A blow to the head caused the death of the 11-year-old boy at a welfare home here and he was not strangled as claimed, says Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf.
He said this was based on a post-mortem examination conducted on the victim.
Comm Ramli said investigations into the case and a 16-year-old suspect were ongoing.
"The suspect has no criminal record and is under remand until March 27," he said after the 215th Police Day celebrations at the Pahang police contingent headquarters here on Friday (March 25).
The victim died from injuries after quarrelling with an older boy at the home over a RM4 debt.
He died at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan on Sunday (March 20).
