IPOH: History was made as Sapiah Mohd Nor became the first Orang Asli woman to be appointed as the Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa) director-general.
The 56-year-old's appointment was consented to by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The appointment letter was presented to her by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the Prime Minister's Department in Parliament on Tuesday (Sept 14).
Prior to her appointment, Sapiah was the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry Enforcement Management section chief.
She is also Cameron Highlands MP Ramli Mohd Nor's younger sister.
