ACTOR Hans Issac (pic) has said that celebrities might have great influence but not all of them have the skills to represent the rakyat as politicians, Utusan Malaysia reported.

Principles, work ethics, and integrity are necessary, he said.

“Just because someone is a celebrity does not mean we should support them. I am not perfect either,” he was reported as saying.

Hans said that any celebrity who wants to join politics must not view his position as a “business”.

“The intention needs to be clear.

“Do not use this platform (politics) to do business,” said Hans, who is currently focusing on community work.

He has been building community-centred cinemas in Sabah, and the initiative will be extended to Sarawak and the peninsula as part of his efforts to provide job opportunities to youths.

The cinemas are also intended to attract more home-grown filmmakers to show their independent films to the public, he said.

Hans, who made his debut in the film Ringgit Kasorga in 1995, has set up a non-governmental organisation called Budak Ampang.

“Since Covid-19 hit, I have been trying to do something despite facing setbacks in terms of finances.

“I am focusing on Ampang where I grew up.

“I have lived in Ampang for over 40 years.

“So, I feel responsible for helping the people around me,” he said.

       > Road users near the Damansara Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station were stunned when they saw a seemingly lifeless bird floating in the sky.

A video that went viral on Facebook on Saturday showed the bird, which was quite big, appearing as though it was hanging from the sky but there was no rope, Kosmo! reported.

The 37-second video also showed two firefighters standing on a fire engine and holding a long stick as they tried to save the bird.

A crowd had gathered around them, causing a traffic jam in the area.

In a statement on Sunday, Selangor Fire Department said, “The pigeon got caught in kite strings but it managed to escape.”
