ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Monday said Federal Healthcare Management Authority (FHMA) would be established in the federal capital to regulate primary and secondary health system.

He was talking to media after visiting the basic health unit in Pind Begwal and population welfare office in Bhara Kahu.

Dr Sultan said all basic health units of the city would be upgraded, adding that, “this is why the government has proposed a bill to set up the FHMA to regulate primary and secondary health”.

He said he believed that diseases could only be controlled and eradicated by strengthening the primary health system as it also dealt with vaccination and immunisation.

The special assistant said people would be able to avail health facilities at their doorsteps soon, and this would help reduce burden on tertiary-care hospitals.

He asked the staff of the basic health unit to share their problems and assured them that they would be addressed at the earliest.
