KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia attempted a weak rebound on Friday as ongoing volatility in regional markets coupled with anxieties over 3Q corporate results weigh on the market.

       At 9.10am, the FBM KLCI was up 2.44 points to 1,526.18 as some positive price movement in leading heavyweights lifted the index.

       In banks, Maybank rose one sen to RM8.05 and Public Bank gained two sen to RM4.07 to shore up the market.

       Telco Axiata was up four sen to RM3.87 and planter Sime Darby Plantation climbed eight sen to RM4.04.

       According to Malacca Securities Research, the strong performance on Wall Street overnight, especially in the Nasdaq, could have a positive effect on local technology counters.

       The tech-heavy indice rose 0.45% to a record close as the world's largest chipmaker, Nvidia, led gains in the sector on strong earnings results.

       On the domestic market, KESM rose 84 sen to RM12.86, MPI climbed 80 sen to RM48.60 and Unisem rose two sen to RM4.28.

       Meanwhile, Inari, which is speculated to be included into the FBM KLCI as its upcoming FTSE semi-annual review, slipped three sen to RM4.19.

       Most active stocks on the market were KNM down one sen to 17 sen, Tanco unchanged at 27 sen and Avillion up 0.5 sen ro 13.5 sen.
