A FORMER gangster once known as the “Hakka Kid” has turned over a new leaf by going into farming, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Now a proud owner of a fish as well as a chicken farm, Ye Han Jiang credited his wife and children for steering him onto the right path.
Ye, 57, said he was also thankful to society for giving him a second chance.
The turning point came at the age of 36 when he realised he had nothing to show for after leading a life of crime.
“Life was hard. We had nothing to eat and we still had to care for our children,” said Ye, who is from Seremban.
He began working at a fish farm that previously employed his father. He also took on part-time jobs as a builder.
After saving enough money, he started his aquarium shop.
“It was only after my aquarium business became stable did my life change for the better,” he said.
His farms have also been turned into a shelter for some 20 stray dogs.
As one way to atone for his past, Ye is doing voluntary work at a temple. In fact, he is now serving as its chairman.
He said he hoped to organise cultural activities for youth.
“Under my care, I will not allow them to get into fights or try drugs,” he said.
> The daily also reported that Taiwanese Mandopop singer Wilber Pan lost 4.6kg in just four days, prompting his fans to ask for his secret to losing weight.
Pan, 40, had posted a photo which showed him having slimmed down after his gym regiment.
“That’s not an exaggeration. I did lose 4.6kg in the last four days,” he posted in a reply.
Some fans noted that Pan’s previous attempts at losing weight had always coincided with the release of an album, prompting them to speculate that he would be announcing a new release soon.
