A GROOM in Taiwan lodged a police report about a man who gate-crashed his wedding reception, stealing food and booze, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The middle-aged stranger waltzed into a temple, where the wedding feast was taking place, and began to take away food by putting the goodies inside a bag, indifferent to guests who were eating.

He even took an unopened bottle of Singleton whiskey on his way out.

When the wedding guests informed the groom, he got so angry that he uploaded a post about the gatecrasher online and demanded the man make an apology.

“I feel that the culture of ‘wedding cockroaches’ should not be allowed to continue. If you come out and apologise to me, I will forgive you. If you don’t, I will make a police report,” he said.

“Wedding cockroaches” refer to uninvited guests who attend wedding receptions with the sole purpose of getting a free meal and getting drunk.

When photos of the man were circulated online, several Internet users shared that the same man had appeared at their wedding receptions as well and had stolen food.

“We should highlight this matter and make sure there will be no further victims,” one netizen said.

The groom lodged a police report after uploading the post.

       > Taiwanese aboriginal singer A-Mei is still a red-hot celebrity – proven when 130,000 tickets to her concert were sold out within nine minutes, Sin Chew Daily reported.

A-Mei, 49, will be holding the aMEI ASMR World Tour 12-date concert at the Taipei Arena in April.

About 320,000 of her fans made a mad scramble to get tickets when they were open for sale at 1pm on Jan 1.

During a recent press conference, A-Mei stopped her manager from revealing too much about her upcoming shows.

“It will be something exciting!” she said.

A-Mei, whose real name is Kulilay Amit, has sold more than 50 million records in her career.

Also known as the Queen of Mandopop, she has won the Golden Melody Award for Best Mandarin Female Singer multiple times.

In 2015, she held a 10-date concert at the Taipei Arena only to be surpassed by her 12-date tour this year.

No other artiste has ever organised a tour with these many dates as A-Mei at the Taipei Arena, except veteran singer Jody Chiang’s farewell 16-date concert in 2015.
