       A TEACHER in Taiwan managed to earn more than TW$7.5mil (RM1.12mil) after videos of him teaching mathematics were viewed more than 1.66 million times on a pornography site, China Press reports.

       The teacher, whose name is Zhang Xu has over 5,900 subscribers and 226 videos teaching the subject on the platform.

       Zhang said he decided to upload his videos on Pornhub due to the sheer number of daily visitors the platform had and the exposure it would bring.

       He estimated over 60% of his viewers watched his videos due to the novelty of seeing mathematics classes being taught on a pornography website.

       However, he said his earnings were used to pay his employees as well as to help him share his knowledge of mathematics on other platforms.

       > Chinese pianist Lang Lang inadvertently became a victim of online abuse after he was mistaken for another Chinese pianist Li Yundi who was earlier arrested for hiring a prostitute, reports Sin Chew Daily.

       The 39-year-old’s Weibo page was flooded with messages calling him a “useless man”, while others criticised him for not staying faithful to his wife.

       Internet users also flocked to his wife Gina Alice Redlinger’s Weibo page offering her words of comfort.

       The mix-up between Lang and Li has become a joke on Chinese cyberspace, with many taking the opportunity to ridicule those who could not tell the two pianists apart.

       Fans of Lang had to embark on a damage control mission by attempting to explain that the two pianists were different people.

       “Please everyone, do not mistake (the two). Even before the news came to light, he (Li) and Lang Lang are not pianists of the same calibre. We can’t compare them together,” one fan wrote.

       According to the Beijing police, a 39-year-old man with the surname Li was detained along with a woman suspected of soliciting to assist with investigations.

       Both of them later confessed to their crimes.

       Despite not having revealed their full names, local media identified the man arrested to be the pianist Li.

       Hiring a prostitute and selling sex are illegal in China, and those found guilty may face up to 15 days’ detention and a maximum fine of 5,000 yuan (RM3,249).

       Born in Chongqing, Li is most well known for being the youngest pianist, at the age of 18, to win the XIV International Chopin Piano Competition in 2000, and for judging it in 2015.
