THE first thing that scandal-plagued Taiwanese-American singer Wang Leehom (pic) did after his two-week quarantine in Taiwan was to see his children, reported China Press.

Wang, who was officially released from home quarantine on Jan 9, was seen being driven in a friend’s Porsche to his luxury condominium at Taipei’s Ren’ai road in the morning.

When contacted, Wang’s manager revealed that the artiste was visiting his children.

“At the moment, his primary concern is being able to go home to visit his children,” the manager said.

Wang and his wife Lee Jinglei are in the midst of a divorce, with the latter accusing him of cheating, being verbally abusive and bullying.

       > The Chinese daily also reported that a woman in China’s Zhejing province was so engrossed with her phone during a candlelit dinner that she did not realise that her hair had caught on fire.

During the incident on New Year’s Eve, the woman, known only as Xiao Luo, had gone to dinner at a restaurant with her friends.

They were taking turns to swap places at the table to take photos when Xiao Luo, who was holding her phone, came too close to a candle on the table and her hair caught fire.

She frantically tried to put out the fire with her hands while other guests in the restaurant watched in stunned silence.

After a waiter helped put out the fire with a piece of cloth, she was sent to hospital where she was diagnosed with second degree burns on the left side of her face.

Following the incident, Xiao Luo, who was also unable to see clearly from her left eye, filed a suit to obtain compensation from the restaurant, claiming that it was negligent in ensuring the safety of their customers by not having proper fire prevention plans in place.

She would be claiming for her medical bills as well as compensation for loss of income.

       > A 60-year-old woman in China’s Anwei province sparked fierce online criticism after giving birth to a healthy 3kg baby girl recently, reported China Press.

Internet users were quick to criticise the woman and her 68-year-old husband after the news racked up millions of views on social media, saying that they would not be able to raise the child to adulthood due to their advanced age.

“Imagine still having to go to your child’s parent-teacher conference in your 80s,” an Internet user wrote.

Others pointed out that it was cruel to give birth to a child in their 60s as the daughter could become an orphan before adulthood.

However, doctors revealed that both mother and child were healthy and that the woman had gotten pregnant naturally.
