GEORGE TOWN: The Penang state investiture ceremony to award honours and medals to mark the 72nd birthday of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tan Sri Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak (pic) will be postponed.

       State speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang said this was following the National Recovery Plan announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on June 15.

       "All programmes in conjunction with the celebration will be postponed to a date to be announced later.

       "This postponement is due to the current situation, taking into account security and health factors to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Penang.

       "However, the date of July 10 has been set and declared as a public holiday in conjunction with the celebration of His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang's birthday," Law said in a statement on Wednesday (July 7).
