       A TEMPLE in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, claimed that it was ordered to relocate despite it having been registered with the Registrar of Societies since 2017, Makkal Osai reported.

       Devi Sree Madurai Veeran temple committee chairman Kalimuthu Muniandy said it was also registered with the Malaysia Hindu Sangam.

       The committee claimed that it had received a letter from the Perak Lands and Mines Department in July ordering the relocation of the temple.

       The temple was said to have been built in 1955.

       He said the temple committee had written an appeal letter to the department highlighting its status, but said they had yet to receive a response.

       Kalimuthu said an assemblyman who met the temple officials promised to hold discussions with the Land Office.

       > The daily also reported that SJK(T) Jugra teacher C. Vadivelan, who won a telescope for the school in an international competition, had been honoured by the Kuala Langat Tamil school headmasters’ association.

       He was honoured in a special ceremony during the association’s third committee meeting at SJK(T) Jenjarom last week for helping to spur interest in science.

       The science teacher from Banting, Selangor, was one of 12 winners selected from among 225 proposals from 54 countries under the Telescope for All 2021 project.

       The telescopes were donated by the International Astronomical Union’s global outreach programme.
