KAJANG: Selgate Healthcare will be kicking off the Selangor Covid-19 Vaccination Programme (SCVP) at identified vaccination centres (PPV) at selected locations this Monday (June 28).

       “Selgate said in a statement recently that they had identified more than 20 PPV in the Klang Valley for the programme, ” said Kajang assemblyman Hee Loy Sian.

       “They will also appoint about 1,200 private clinics that are part of the Skim Peduli Sihat programme to dispense vaccines, ” he added.

       Selgate Healthcare - a subsidiary of Selgate Corporation Sdn Bhd - is the administrator of the state government’s “Skim Peduli Sihat” healthcare programme.

       The 24 PPV announced by Selgate include the Tropicana Gardens Mall Convention Centre in Petaling Jaya, Evo Mall in Bangi, Kompleks PKNS in Kelana Jaya, Hotel De Palma in Shah Alam, Aurora Place Mall in Bukit Jalil, six community halls and 13 Selcare clinics.

       “A trial run will be held over the weekend before the SCVP starts on Monday, ” said Hee.

       He added that the exact cost of the vaccination will be announced by the Selangor Mentri Besar, saying that it is expected to range between RM300 and RM400 per person for two doses.

       “SCVP is similar to what the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) is offering with its Program Imunisasi Industri Covid-19 Kerjasama Awam-Swasta (Pikas), although the Selangor government will be charging for both the handling/ administration costs and vaccines, ” said Hee.

       Hee added that SCVP is not free because the Selangor government had to order and pay for 2.5 million doses of vaccines from Pharmaniaga.

       He added that the state government will set aside 500, 000 doses to be given for free to state government frontliners, hawkers and others categorised as high-risk.

       “For industries and businesses, the cost of the vaccination programme will be borne by the employers, ” said Hee.

       He added that the response so far have been very good, with requests for about five million doses received thus far.

       “Industries and factories are willing to pay for the vaccines so that they can continue their businesses, ” said Hee.

       Hee also said that while 2.5 million vaccine doses have been allocated for SCVP’s first phase, he added that the state government would consider a second phase if there is a demand for it.

       “We are expecting some industries and businesses to cancel their interest in SCVP as they may get vaccination programme offers from Miti or the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, ” said Hee, who is also the state tourism, environment and green technology, Orang Asli affairs committee chairman.

       He was speaking at the Covid-19 community screening programme held at Dewan Seri Cempaka, Saujana Impian in Kajang.

       The Kajang venue offered free screening via walk-in and drive-through methods, with registration done using the Selangkah app.
