KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): People flying in to Langkawi from Sept 16 do not need a permission letter from the police, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Khairy said in a tweet on Sunday (Sept 12) that only those using land transport from other states need to do so.

"For the Langkawi pilot tourism programme ‘travel bubble’, a letter from the police is for the purpose of interstate travel and roadblocks if they are travelling by land,” he said.

On Sept 9, the government announced that people from all over Malaysia could visit Langkawi, with the only restriction being on those in an area that is currently under an enhanced movement control order.

The island resort was chosen as the first destination of the tourism bubble pilot project for individuals who have completed their Covid-19 vaccination. - Bernama
