The incident took place in the early hours of this morning on Deanston Drive. The bursting of an 18 inch trunk main has disrupted water supplies and caused flooding in the Tantallon Road area.

       A spokesperson for Scottish Water commented on the disruption caused by the incident.

       They said: “We would like to apologise to customers experiencing disruption to their water supply or flooding this morning as a result of a burst trunk main on the southside of Glasgow."

       “Our team on site is working to isolate the damaged section of main and to re-route water through unaffected parts of the network in order to restore and maintain supplies as quickly as possible.

       “We have a response team on-site to provide direct assistance to customers whose homes have been affected by flooding as a result of the burst.

       "We would encourage any customers who have experienced flooding and who need support to call us on 0800 077 8778.”

       Langside Primary announced they were forced to close this morning due to the flooding.

       They took to Twitter to update on the impact of this flooding.

       They tweeted: "The water on Tantallon Road is pretty deep in places and we have made the difficult decision to CLOSE today.

       "Teachers will prepare online learning through Seesaw for children later today.

       "We will be in touch with updates as we have them."

       Deanpark Nursey in Glasgow also announced they would be closing.

       They also took to Twitter to share the news of their closure for the day.

       They tweeted: "Good Morning everyone…

       "I am sure you have heard Deanpark nursery is closed today due to flooding in the area.

       "Regarding tomorrow we will keep in touch via Twitter and phone."

       Glasgow City Council issued their own update on Twitter about the closure of both the nursery and the school.

       They tweeted: “SCHOOL AND NURSERY CLOSURE:

       “Due to an ongoing Scottish Water emergency at Deanston Drive; Langside Primary and Deanpark Nursery will be closed TODAY.

       “We will contact parents later today when we have more information.”
