RESIDENTS in Kapar, Klang, have urged the authorities to stop issuing statements and to move forward with concrete measures to resolve the frequent flooding problem, Malaysia Nanban reported.
A. Maniam, 55, who chairs the Aman Perdana Residents’ Association said local and state authorities have been issuing statements and press releases since the devastating floods in December last year.
Muniandy Pachaiappan, 67, from Taman Kapar Indah said most of the representatives and councillors seem to think that visiting the affected areas and commiserating with the victims is the extent of their responsibilities, he said.
The residents face constant threats from flooding. Just monitoring and issuing flood warnings are not the way to resolve the problem, the residents said.
Since December, the drainage in their neighbourhood has gotten worse and he continues to live in fear, Muniandy said.
> The ancient Ramanathaswamy Temple in Tamil Nadu is facing allegations that its workers misappropriated gold jewellery worth one million rupees (RM500,000), Malaysia Nanban reported.
The temple allegedly received the offering of a Ruthratcha garland with gold inlays and a diamond necklace from a private company.
The items were to have been evaluated and recorded but devotees alleged this did not happen.
