GEORGE TOWN: The investigation paper on DAP's Pasir Bedamar assemblyman Terence Naidu has been completed.

State Narcotics Crime Investigations Department chief Asst Comm Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah, however, said police were still waiting for the pathology report to ascertain whether the assemblyman's urine was positive or negative.

"We need to wait for the pathology report, as it is one of the important elements for the deputy public prosecutor's (DPP) office to make a decision.

ACP Mustafa Kamal said normally, the pathology report took between one and three months to be completed before the results could be known.

He said at any time, the DPP had every right to call for the investigation paper from the police for them to review.

Naidu was among the 48 people arrested by the police on Jan 13 and tested positive for drugs, along with 35 others.

Two policemen were also arrested along with Naidu and both of them had tested positive for drugs during the raid.

Naidu, in defending his innocence, had claimed that his drink might have been spiked following his arrest during a raid by the police.

On Jan 19, his lawyer Ramkarpal Singh, said Naidu was tested negative when he was screened for drugs the second time at a private clinic in Penang.

Naidu was currently being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
