A NEWLY-WED couple in Tamil Nadu, India, was stabbed to death by the bride’s family who had objected to their marriage, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The family of 21-year-old M. Karthika had been unhappy about the relationship ever since she started dating V. Maari Selvam, 23, who worked in a shipping company.
To them, Maari Selvam was of a lowly economic status – his father was a labourer while Karthika’s father had a milk supply business.
The couple did not care about these differences and went ahead and got married last Monday without the knowledge of Karthika’s family.
After the wedding, they went to live in Maari Selvam’s house.
Eventually, Karthika’s father found out about the wedding and went to Maari Selvam’s house and caused a scene.
On Thursday, six men on motorbikes broke into the house and killed Maari Selvam and Karthika.
