PETALING JAYA: Many parents are eagerly waiting for vaccines to be rolled out to those aged 12 to 17, especially as schoolchildren are expected to return to physical classes next month.
Businessman Leslie Chua, 43, is waiting for his daughter to be vaccinated so she can return to school as soon as possible.
“It is important my daughter receives the vaccine to stay safe, and to protect those around her as well when she resumes physical classes at school.
“I am willing to let my 14-year-old daughter receive the Covid-19 vaccine, as our Health Ministry and medical professionals have taken the necessary measures to ensure that it is safe for all,” he added.
Chua Chiu Yen, 51, said it was important for both teachers and students to get vaccinated for physical classes to resume as soon as possible.
“Without being vaccinated, how can students return to school?
“Once both teachers and students are fully vaccinated, we (parents) can feel at ease about sending our children back to school,” she added.
The mother of two also stressed that whoever was eligible and has access to the Covid-19 vaccine should apply to get it immediately so that Malaysia could achieve herd immunity.
Housewife Anitarani Emmanuel Bismarck Anchony, 54, is worried about the high number of Covid-19 cases and is eager for her son, Christowen, 16, to get vaccinated soon.
“As the Covid-19 situation is still quite serious, it is best for all of us to be protected and receive the vaccine.
“Even after being vaccinated, students and teachers should still wear their masks upon returning to school,” she added.
Suryani Mohd Awal@Anuar, 48, who works as a human resource manager, also said that being vaccinated would make schools a safer place for both students and teachers.
“Schoolteachers have homes to return to as well. Having their students vaccinated will definitely help protect them and their families,” she noted.
The mother of four added that her son is very much aware of the current Covid-19 situation, as he regularly keeps himself updated with the latest news from official sources.
“My son, Anuar Syamil, 16, is well informed about the current pandemic, and is also prepared to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in order to keep him, his family and those around him safe,” Suryani said.
