TOKYO -- Japanese celebrity Tamori, presenter of the TV Asahi program "Music Station," has been recognized by Guinness World Records as host of the longest-running live TV music show presented by the same person, the broadcaster announced.

The popular show was launched in October 1986, featuring appearances from artists from Japan and abroad, and this year marked its 35th anniversary. Tamori, whose real name is Kazuyoshi Morita, began hosting the show on April 3, 1987, and as of the episode aired on Sept. 17 this year, he had been the host for 34 years and 168 days, for a total of 1,365 episodes. The record is set to appear in the Japanese version of "Guinness World Records 2022."

Tamori earlier set a Guinness world record for the highest number of live variety TV shows hosted by the same presenter with the 5,000th episode of "Waratte Iitomo!" (It's OK to laugh!), aired on April 5, 2002. The show continued until 2014.

Regarding his second Guinness record achievement, Tamori said in a written statement, "It's quite a deal getting one even once. I'm not praising myself (laugh), but I never thought I'd get two, so this is a great honor."

As for his future goals, Tamori said, "I don't have any (laugh). But it would be entertaining if I could do it even after the age of 100."
