THE Indian community in Ipoh is once again looking for answers over the fate of SJK (T) Gunung Rapat’s new building, which has yet to be completed, Malaysia Nanban reported.

       Batu Gajah MP V. Sivakumar, who visited the school’s building site, said the land for the Tamil school was identified in 2013 after a long battle.

       The ground-breaking ceremony took place four years later. Five years have passed since then, but the school building has yet to be completed, he said.

       Residents in the area have been waiting for the school to be completed but have only received excuses for the delays.

       Sivakumar said even multi million-ringgit buildings could be completed within one or two years but constructing a Tamil school appeared to be a challenge.

       The MP vowed to bring the matter up in the upcoming Parliament meeting.

       He said this after visiting the school with Perak Tamil schools action committee member PT Nithiyananda, the school’s former parent-teacher association chairman A. Sridar and Sungkai assemblyman A. Sivanesan’s former special officer U. Muthusamy.

       Abdul Salam from Trichi is apparently addicted to online gambling and had spent thousands of rupees on his addiction.

       A few days ago, he apparently sold his two-month-old son for 80,000 rupees (RM4,400) so he could continue to gamble.

       Police who received a report about the incident arrested the father and two others who bought the baby.
