Unreleased images of the Royal Family have recently resurfaced providing an insight into the lives of Firm members including Prince Charles, 72. Discovered amid a private collection treasured by a former royal schoolmaster, the archive includes never-before-seen letters, photographs and drawings.

The never-before-seen collection, which includes correspondence sent from royal households, has emerged for sale at auction for £80,000.

Also included in its collection are a series of letters from the Queen, 95, and Prince Charles to a trusted aide.

The correspondence spans a time frame of 40 years and provides an intimate look at life within the Royal Family.

The recipient of the correspondence was Michael Farebrother, a former Grenadier Guard who patrolled Windsor Castle.

The collection also contains 26 photographs taken of the Royal Family, dating mostly from the Fifties.

The images were taken by Mr Farebrother and they provided an intimate glimpse into the life of future heir Prince Charles when he was a schoolboy.

The images show the young prince larking around on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

One image shows the young prince wearing a suit and smiling with his arms in the air, while another shows him climbing over a wall.

A third charming image shows the Prince donning a hat and oversized suit and cane, as he stands proud with two dogs.

According to the Telegraph, Mr Farebrother joined the ranks at Sandringham and Windsor Castle for “fun, games and a little extra tutoring” while the Prince was young.

The outlet explains that at the time his father, the late Duke of Edinburgh, was away on his Britannia tour around the world.

The numerous letters included in the collection originate from a number of the royal residences including Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral and Sandringham.

The letters which evidence Mr Farebrother and Her Majesty’s life-long friendship detail the day-to-day life of the Royal Family.

The subjects of the letters span a wide range of topics including the deaths of King George VI and Louie Mountbatten.

Mr Farebrother’s collection also includes handwritten notes from the Queen sent at key moments in her life including her engagement to Prince Philip and the birth of her first son.

One letter dating from January 2 1956, is written on Sandringham headed paper where Mr Farebrother tells his father about a New Year celebration with the Queen, her mother, sister and children.

Within letter he describes how Princess Margaret played a “rock’n’roll record and the children caper all over the pace, doing it surprisingly well.”

He also explains that after tea, the Queen’s children donned different outfits for the occasion.

He wrote: “Charles dresses in a kilt and Anne puts on a white fairy dress with wings, a wand and a little tiara - very becoming.”

Mr Farebrother passed away in 1987 at the age of 67, with the collection of treasures passing to his nephew, Tim.

The never-been-seen items are being sold by Gorringe’s Auctioneers, with an estimate of £50,000 to £80,000.

The sale of the collection takes place on December 7 at Gorringe’s Auctioneers in Lewes, East Sussex.
