KUALA LUMPUR: Police have seized over RM10.33mil worth of drugs following a series of raids under Ops Tapis Khas nationwide.

       Federal Narcotic Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the raids were conducted between Feb 23 and Feb 25 at 125 Felda settlements and 222 people's housing project for the hardcore poor.

       "We arrested 3,512 men and 156 women aged between 14 and 60 for various drug offences. Of the arrests, we identified 572 drug pushers, 1,850 drug addicts and 185 wanted persons," he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters on Monday (Feb 28).

       Comm Ayob said a total of 745.93kg and 283.6 litres of various drugs, as well as a ganja plant worth RM10.33mil, were seized.

       "We seized 279.16kg of syabu, 29.8kg of ketamine, 5.74kg of heroin, 1.68kg of Yaba pills, 1.5kg of Erimin 5 pills, 1.03kg of ganja, 545.7gm of Ecstasy as well as 71.2gm of Ecstasy powder and 204.24gm of psychotropic pills.

       "We also seized 455.5kg of ketum, 269.05 litres of ketum liquid and 14.55 litres of codeine," he said, adding that a fake pistol was confiscated in Jerantut.

       He said other firearms seized included one shotgun and 17 bullets in Selama, Perak, while another shotgun and an air rifle with 18 bullets were seized in Lawas, Sabah.

       "In addition, a total of RM159,786 in cash, RM18,846 worth of jewellery, 22 cars worth RM553,200, 52 motorcycles worth RM276,600 and a RM700 helmet were also confiscated during the raids," he said.
