THE RMC Welfare Centre joined hands with the Seremban Welfare Department to rescue five homeless persons around the city, and provided them with a place to stay, Makkal Osai reported.

Negri Sembilan Hindu Priests Association president Sivasri Dr Ananda Gobi Sivachariyar, who also runs the Sri Ragavendra Ashram, said department officials and RMC reps made their rounds from 6am to 8pm to render assistance.

The report stated the five homeless people were given a Covid-19 test and general medical check-up before being brought to the centre.

Ananda Gobi said the centre would also try to provide them with job training and find employment for them.

The RMC centre manager said the home operates with the support of the state government and state exco member Nicole Tan Lee Koon’s office. They currently have nine residents who are in a similar situation.

       > The Tamil Nadu state government has introduced a Bill requiring 40% female hires in state government jobs, the daily also reported.

The Bill was part of Budget 2022 being presented by MK Stalin’s DMK-led state government.

The new minimum limit which has been upped from the current 30% will be applicable for positions appointed directly by department officials.
