PETALING JAYA: Major highways into the Klang Valley were choked with traffic as people returned home from their Hari Raya Aidilfitri break.
A spokesman from the Malaysian Highway Authority said heavy traffic was detected along the Karak Expressway towards Lentang yesterday.
“Along the North-South Expressway, there was a heavy flow of vehicles from Juru towards Sungkai.
“From the south, traffic was also heavy from Simpang Ampat towards Port Dickson,” he said yesterday.
He said the situation is expected to persist until Sunday as more people head back to the Klang Valley.
“Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly,” he said.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department principal assistant director (enforcement) Supt Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin urged motorists to be patient and abide by traffic regulations.
“Ensure your vehicles are road worthy and well maintained before driving.
“Our police personnel will be on patrol to ensure that traffic runs smoothly and everyone abides by the rules,” he said.
