KUCHING: Developing a township in Opar is among the pledges made by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Billy Sujang should he be elected as the people’s representative for the constituency.
Billy said if given the mandate, he will focus on bringing more development to the area and added that he will prioritise education.
“The creation of a township will spur commercial and economic activities here. It can be realised with the support of the Chief Minister,” he said in a campaign video on Wednesday (Dec 15).
He also said that should he be elected, there would be more efforts to encourage commercial agriculture and to identify potential tourism spots in the constituency.
Billy is a newcomer fielded by GPS and is locked in a six-cornered fight, including former rep Datuk Ranu Mina of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
Billy and Ranu are related as the former is his nephew.
