THE silent war between Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu and her mother appears to have ended after the two reportedly sat down to enjoy a meal together, reported China Press.

       According to Barbie’s younger sister Dee Hsu, the two, who were not on speaking terms, successfully reconciled during dinner.

       “With mother and daughter having a meal together, I feel they are now okay,” Dee said.

       It was earlier reported that Huang Chunmei had issued an ultimatum to her daughter – apologise for getting married in secret – or she would not be willing to meet her new husband.

       Barbie, 45, remarried her former boyfriend and South Korean musician DJ Koo, 52, just three months after her divorce from Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei.

       According to Barbie, she kept her plans a secret from family members and travelled to South Korea alone.

       She only told them the night after she registered her marriage, which infuriated her mother.

       According to Dee, their mother is in a better mood now.

       Dee added that their mother had even taken the initiative to watch a television programme featuring Koo and thought that he was “so handsome” when he was younger.

       She also defended Barbie, saying that it was hard now to find true love after a divorce.

       When asked if she would miss her husband and fellow actor Edwin Siu, Wong complained that he was now hooked on a TV show and would rather watch it than have a video chat with her.

       “Since arriving, I have tried to have a video call with him on the first day of my quarantine. He had the gall to say he wanted to watch TV and was eager to end our conversation,” she said.

       Wong made her debut in 2003, anchoring an entertainment news programme before signing on with TVB in 2012 as an actress.

       She started dating Siu, who was her co-actor on the comedy romance series Madam Cutie On Duty in 2014.

       They got hitched in New Zealand in 2018.
