GEORGE TOWN: The police have busted a wild party and arrested 26 suspects at a luxury condominium here.

       State Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Asst Comm Rahimi Ra'ais said the 15 men and 11 women, aged between 13 and 21 years old, were arrested after police raided the condominium at about 1.30am on Saturday (Nov 6).

       He said the police acted based on a tip-off from the public and a team from the state anti-vice, gambling and secret society division (D7) were deployed to the location to raid the condominium.

       "Initial investigations found that the suspects rented the condominium unit for RM500 a day through social media to hold a party.

       "We also found that the suspects were known to each other," he said in a statement.

       SAC Rahimi said further interrogation found that each of the women paid RM30 each and RM50 each for the men for the condominium unit rental.

       SAC Rahimi said the raid, which was participated by George Town Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, found all suspects negative for drugs.

       He said during the raid police seized audio system equipment believed to be used to hold the wild party.

       He thanked the public for providing the police with the information in regards to the wild party.

       "The public is welcome to cooperate with the police by providing information about criminal activities in their area to the police," he said.

       The case is being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
