According to reports, police and fire services have closed off a busy central street. Due to the incident, Queen Street was closed. There were approximately three fire engines at the scene.

In pictures, a crane can be seen being used to access the roof of a building.

A spokesperson for the fire service said officers were called at 3.45pm on Monday.

The cordon was enforced around Specsavers and the Card Factory.

There have been no reports of injuries on Queen Street.

South Wales Fire and Rescue revealed they had been called due to a pigeon being caught in netting.

They said: "At approximately 3:45pm on Monday 15th November 2021 we received reports of a small animal rescue on Queen Street in Cardiff.

"A crew attended the scene to rescue a pigeon from netting.

"At stop message was received at 4:23pm and the bird was left in the care of specialists."

This comes as the Welsh Government introduced Covid pass restrictions.

Venues such as concerts, cinemas and theatres will now fall under the regime.

Anyone over 16 in Wales can receive a Covid pass if they are fully vaccinated.

A Covid pass can also be gained if the person tests negative for Covid 48 hours before the event.

Some industries now fear the Covid pass will soon be extended in order to curb infections.

Indeed, the Welsh Beer and Pub Association claimed it is a concerning time for the hospitality sector.

Emma McClarkin, from the organisation, said: "It must be avoided.

"Case numbers are falling in Wales, so bringing in this measure would be counter-productive and put brewers and pubs in jeopardy even though data shows hospitality not to be a significant source of transmission."

The new pass was passed by 39 members of the Senedd, with 15 voting against it.

The pass, however, did spark protests from some in the city.
