GEORGE TOWN: The state's civil servants will receive half a month's salary, or a minimum of RM1,200 in conjunction with Hari Raya this year, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow said in a statement that the state has approved the handout under Bantuan Khas Kewangan (BKK), which would amount to RM7.35mil.

"The aid was approved during the state executive council meeting and will be paid out on April 27.

"All civil servants in the local authorities and the state’s statutory bodies will receive the special aid," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 14).

Chow said a special aid of RM300 each will be distributed to the Al-Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) class supervisors and teachers, Islamic religious schools teachers and staff, together with Chinese private school teachers and their staff here as well.

"Tahfiz teachers, pondok school teachers and Islamic kindergarten teachers will each receive RM200.

"The total aid to be given out this year is about RM7.35mil.

"This aid is to show special appreciation to all civil servants who have worked diligently in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.
