IPOH: The police refute claims that two students here have died after getting their Covid-19 vaccinations.

       Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said while it was true that two students from SMK Tasek Damai had died, these were not related to the Covid-19 vaccine.

       Comm Mior Faridalathrash said one female student had died on July 18 while another male student died on Sept 17.

       "The female student was positive for Covid-19 but she had diabetes and high blood pressure.

       "She was in critical condition at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for two months," he said.

       "The other male student died from a heart attack," he said, adding that the vaccination programme for teenagers had only started on Sept 20.

       A video has gone viral on social media, claiming that several students have passed away after getting their vaccinations.

       Meanwhile, all parties have been told to remain calm and not to trigger public alarm following the video clip which alleged several individuals died after receiving COVID-19 vaccine, said Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali.

       In a tweet, he said the Health Ministry (MOH) is studying the matter and would respond soon.

       "MOH acknowledged the presence of a viral video on social media over side effects following the dispensing of vaccine under adolescent vaccination programme.

       "MOH views the matter seriously and MOH is also obtaining the details of the issue raised in the video,” he said on his Twitter site.

       The 1 minute 40 seconds video clip featured a woman claiming that several individuals including two secondary school students in Ipoh, Perak and a teenager in Lahad Datu, Sabah have died due to Covid-19 vaccine.
