IPOH: Police are looking for 10 men to assist investigations into two separate criminal cases.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said five of them are wanted to assist a probe into organised criminal activities.
They are Zaid Shammugam, 37, A. Thangasamy, 52, S. Loggarajan, 33, S. Dinesh, 32, and M. Pal Ganapathy, 32.
Comm Mior Faridalathrash said all five were wanted for a case under Section 130V of the Penal Code in Bukit Merah, Gunung Semanggol.
The other five, he said, were wanted under Section 457 of the same Act for trespassing into a premises to commit an offence in Langkap, Teluk Intan.
The five are K. Loganathan, 34, B. Karti, 37, S. Kalidasen, 38, V. Gurubalan, 45, and D.R. Nantha Kumar, 23.
"We hope the public can provide information about these men to the nearest police station," he told a press conference on Thursday (Feb 10).
Separately, Comm Mior Faridalathrash said a total of 1,152 accidents were recorded during the recent Ops Selamat 17, which was held in conjunction with Chinese New Year, between Jan 28 and Feb 6.
He said there was a 15% drop in cases compared to Ops Selamat 16, which recorded 1,350 cases.
"There were however 14 deaths this year, compared to nine last year.
"We have issued 24,538 summonses for various offences and arrested four men for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol," he said.
