KUALA LUMPUR: The driver of the Toyota Hilux involved in an accident that killed a family of four tested negative for drugs, says Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Sarifudin Mohd Salleh.
He added that the driver's statement was recorded by police on Wednesday (March 2).
"We recorded his statement and the investigation paper has been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action," he said when contacted.
ACP Sarifudin said police have identified the cause of the accident but he could not share further details.
"After taking into account the advice of doctors, we did not detain the driver as he suffered a back injury," he said.
On Sunday, a crash between a Toyota Hilux and a Hyundai Starex killed a family of four at about 11.20am at Sultan Iskandar Highway.
It was learnt that the Hilux driver had lost control of the vehicle before crashing into the Starex, killing all four family members.
