A woman with a gun who was threatening to injure herself has been taken to a hospital after prompting a SWAT situation at O’Hare International Airport on Thursday evening, Chicago police said.

Chicago police officers were called to the scene shortly before 5 p.m. when a woman was threatening to kill herself near Terminal 4, according to Officer Anthony Spicuzza, a police spokesman.

She was eventually detained without incident and taken to Amita Health Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center for a mental health evaluation, Spicuzza said.

Nobody was hurt and a weapon was recovered, he said.

City Department of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride referred questions to Chicago police.
