PETALING JAYA: Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong returned to his constituency of Ayer Hitam on Saturday (Jan 8) to attend a wedding ceremony while also spending time with his constituents.

       “I returned to my constituency this morning and attended the wedding of Yong Peng councillor and Ayer Hitam Umno deputy head Mohd Junaidi Kamari’s daughter at Parit Sumarto, Parit Raja," said Dr Wee.

       “Also present were Datuk Samsol Bari Jamali and Rashidah Ramli who are the state agriculture, agro-based and rural development committee chairman and Parit Raja assemblyman respectively,” he added in a Facebook post on Saturday.

       The MCA president added that the wedding was organised with strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

       “I also had the opportunity to meet and speak with the guests who are also voters under the Ayer Hitam constituency,” he said.

       Dr Wee also congratulated the newlyweds and wished them a bright future ahead.

       Later that day, Dr Wee visited SMK Yong Peng which was the last temporary relief centre still operating since the flood which struck the area six days ago.

       His visit coincided with that of Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar who was also present at the centre, and Dr Wee expressed his gratitude to his Majesty for his care and effort towards the people.

       “18 families and 54 flood victims are currently placed here," said Dr Wee.

       “I have also prepared mattresses to be distributed to these victims as part of preparations to return home once the waters subside. Hopefully the rain will not continue any further,” he added.
