BALIK PULAU: Thirteen-year-old Adam Harith Mohd Ridzuan plans to spend National Day with five big pythons in a cage at a “snake house” in Kampung Titi Teras here.
The daring feat will see him playing video games, reading and doing homework in the company of four reticulated pythons and a Burmese python, each weighing between 100kg and 300kg.
“I’ll be in the cage for six hours and 40 minutes with five of the bigger pythons belonging to my father, who keeps them as pets.
“I’ll eat my breakfast and lunch in the cage too on that day. I have never done this before. I hope I can do it,” he said yesterday.
Adam Harith has been playing with the reptiles – 18 in total – since he was a toddler and has never felt fear around them.
Asked why he wanted to accomplish such a daring feat, the student of the Mara Junior Science College in Jeli, Kelantan, said he just wanted to tell the world that snakes were not creatures to be feared.
His father Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah Zawawi, 37, said though there was no doubting his son’s bravery, he would keep a close watch throughout the attempt for safety reasons.Mohd Ridzuan, who has been rearing the reptiles since he was a child, said: “Snakes are not dangerous to play with as long as you know how to handle them.”
